Introduction
With the rise of AI, it is crucial that more people get educated on the different types of AI systems that are currently widely used in almost every application, softwares and platforms. Today’s topic will introduce you to two of the most used AI systems in the world. Generative AI and Agentic AI.
Generative AI is an artificial intelligence system that is developed to generate and create new content by learning the patterns of existing data in their system. Agentic AI however, is developed with the purpose of being proactive and capable of making decisions, setting goals, including taking necessary actions in order to achieve certain objectives. Usually, generative AI is used in content generation, while Agentic AI focuses more on planning, decision-making and taking initiative.
Knowing How and Where You Could Use Them
For example, when it comes to creating contents using Generative AI, the most famous medium for it would be ChatGPT where it functions as a smart chatbot you could talk to. Agentic AI in retrospect, is used in systems that are capable in planning and acting autonomously, the easiest example of this system would be customer support bots and task automation, such as auto-fill. In terms of mediums, Auto-GPT and Devin AI are the along those that are more known in providing Agentic AI services.
Differences and Similarities
To put it simply, Generative AI creates content based on patterns in their system’s data, all done without independent goals or actions, like a reaction to a question. This makes Generative AI ideal for creative and assistive tasks. In contrast, Agentic AI does more, beyond content generation. This is done by Agentic AI capabilities to set goals, making proactive decisions, and taking actions within a given space.
Enough about differences, what makes both types of AI so similar? This is easy, both use advanced machine learning models in order to understand, and in turn respond to human input. To add to this, as technology advances, they are increasingly integrated into modern tools and platforms in hopes of enhancing productivity, automating workflows, and delivering better, and faster user experiences in an environment.

Getting to know and understand AI systems is something that is needed nowadays, this is to ensure users can get accustomed to the different AI systems that are currently being put out and used everyday. By getting accustomed with AI systems, users can be more aware of the benefits of it and also get introduced to easier daily solutions using AI.
